To encourage more shoppers into Wellington, the
chamber of trade have introduced a parking loyalty
scheme which will reimburse shoppers who make
a minimum spend in one visit to a shop, restaurant,
hotel
Wellington is a regular and successful entrant in
the Britain in Bloom competition, winning the trophy
for the best medium sized town in the South West
in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 as well as being a
Bloom gold medal winner as an outstanding floral
town in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
Wellington town centre boasts a unique set of specialist
shops, several of which have won awards for supplying
high quality produce. In the quiet Wellington backwater
of Cornhill you will find the Best Fishmonger in
Somerset, Don Jones whose high standards have not
only resulted in this coveted award but no less
than 15 consecutive quality and hygiene awards.
Also among the award winners is Tim Potter Butchers
who supply locally produced meat and who have won
awards for their sausages.
A wide choice of cheese and other delicatessen food,
as well as quality wines, are available at The Cheese
and Wine Shop in South Street, while in Fore Street,
the aptly named The Larder has a tempting array
of cheeses and other dairy delights.

Wellington boasts at least two computer shops so
computer buffs should be able to find their requirements
here.
If its local produce you want then visit the Fox’s
Mill shop on the edge of the town where you can
purchase some locally manufactured fabric.
It is not possible to list all the different types
of businesses to be found in Wellington but this
should give the visitor a tantalising glimpse of
the diversity and quality to expect.
