What is the Kings Arms Community Hub?

Sited in the former Kings Arms pub that was empty for a number of years, the Kings Arms Community Hub is a central place for statutory services and community groups to engage with the public. The Kings Arms building was bought by Falcon Rural Housing in 2021 with the intent to develop the site into social housing flats on the first and second floors and allow for a usable community space on the ground floor.

Falcon Housing committed to making the ground floor space habitable with adequate plumbing and electrical systems and watertight walls and floors. Falcon also agreed to enter into a long-term lease arrangement with the Town Council for the delivery of the Community Hub. The Town Council convened a small working group including representatives from Wellington One Team, Somerset Council, and Churches Together to discuss how the space could best be used. These discussions built an outline for what the Kings Arms would be: A flexible space that will help link up services and early help in a central location and allow for youth provision.

The process to get the hub refurbished and ready for use was not without its obstacles, and it has taken over two years to be completed with thanks to the hard work of many people, both paid and voluntary. Now that the hub is up and running we look forward to seeing it develop over the coming years!

Our Vision

A connected, compassionate, and inclusive Wellington where all individuals feel valued, supported, and able to thrive. The Kings Arms Community Hub will be a welcoming point of contact for families, children, young people, and vulnerable adults to access advice, guidance, and support. The hub will help people find the right information and connect with trusted services and community resources.

Our Mission

To provide a safe, welcoming, and community-led space that empowers people through access to support, engagement opportunities, and positive relationships. The Hub will be a focal point for youth development and adult well-being, rooted in collaboration and care.

Children & Youth Engagement/Support

We will:

  • Offer safe, inclusive spaces where children and young people can access support, develop skills, and build confidence to give every child the best start in life.
  • Collaborate with local partners to provide needs-led, relevant youth programmes and activities.

Adult Social Care & Wellbeing

We will:

  • Create a friendly, non-clinical environment where adults—especially those at risk of isolation or poor health—can access support, information, and social connection.
  • Enable health, care, and community providers to deliver localised, accessible interventions.
