08 May New Mayor for 26/27
At the annual meeting on 6th May 2026 the Council resolved to elect Cllr Mark Lithgow to be the Mayor of Wellington for the 26/27 year.
Outgoing Mayor Janet Lloyd handed over the chain of office and received a “Past chairman” pin to add to her collection. Cllr Lloyd has been the longest-serving Mayor Wellington Town Council ever had, serving for a total of five years over three periods as Mayor.
Mayor Lithgow is looking forward to taking on the role once more after serving as Mayor between 2021 and 2023.
