08 May 🎵 Together in Tone – Community Update
Bringing Music & Community Together Across The Wellington & Wiveliscombe LCN
Together in Tone is a community music project funded through the Somerset Association of Local Councils, focused on improving wellbeing, reducing isolation, and celebrating local music.
🎤 What’s been happening?
Since January, we’ve been busy connecting with music groups across the area.
So far we have:
- Engaged with 18+ music groups
- Connected with 6–7 choirs and vocal groups
- Spoken with 10+ parishes across the LCN
- Attended rehearsals, meetings and community sessions
💡 What we’ve learned
Wellington and Wiveliscombe already have a rich and active music scene.
But we’ve also heard:
- People don’t always know what’s available
- Some residents feel unsure about joining
- Transport and access can be barriers
- Groups would love help promoting what they do
🎯 What happens next?
The next phase of Together in Tone will focus on:
✔ Making music more accessible
- Friendly, low-pressure “have a go” sessions
- Activities in community settings, including hubs and community groups
✔ Promoting what already exists
- Creating a local music directory
- Sharing opportunities more widely through parishes, networks and local channels
✔ Telling the story
- Filming and showcasing local groups
- Sharing real stories about music and wellbeing through digital content
