Wellington Learner Award
Designed to help year 5 pupils become more confident, independent, and foster a passion for learning, the Wellington Learner Award is the Town Council’s way to engage with young people in the town. Participating schools receive a visit from a member of Council staff and the Mayor of Wellington to launch the award and every year 5 pupil is provided with a folder to serve as their portfolio of work throughout the year.
This award encourages children to identify an area of learning they would like to improve and work to better themselves throughout the school year. At the end of the year, their portfolio will be a representation of their best work and their growth as a student. Each child that has completed the award will receive a certificate, with each school having a winner and two runners up. The winning portfolio from each school will be collected and judged by the Mayor who will choose an overall winner.
